So the bad news is that the Dr. Disc in-store with Dead Leaf Echo was cancelled due to some logistical issues outside of our control. Sorry, Hamilton folks. Us and Dead Leaf Echo will still be playing at The Casbah in Hamilton on Sunday night, and the show at Smiling Buddha in Toronto is still on for tomorrow.
The good news is that we have a new way for you to give us money. We finally actually added content to the Bandcamp page we set up a few years back. You can listen to both Spectra Spirit and our out-of-print self-titled album now at . You can also give us a couple dollars if you’re so inclined. We will use that money to
buy beer and weed record the next album. Thanks for checking us out and being dudes!
It’s been a bit, but we’re getting ready to hit the road again in a few weeks! First of all, we’ll be playing a couple Ontario shows with our old friends Dead Leaf Echo from NYC in March. First off is an in-store at Dr. Disc in Hamilton, ON. That’ll be at 3pm on Saturday, March 1st. Immediately after that, we head to Toronto for a show that night at the legendary Smiling Buddha Bar. Anyone that comes to both shows will be treated to a shot of the cheapest Canadian Whisky the bar offers. The next day, we’re back to Hamilton for a show at The Casbah with Beliefs, Gasoline Gathers Hands Gathers Friends, and Mike Pawluk of this.is.underground.radio DJ-ing.
After that, we’ll be playing at the New Dodge Lounge as part of the new Hamtramck Music Festival bash. Joining us will be Rogue Satellites, Zombie Jesus and the Chocolate Sunshine Band, Palaces, and Oblisk.
Then, at the end of April, we head out again for a spate of Midwest shows kicking off Friday, April 25th at awesome Milwaukee Psych Fest at the Cactus Club. This will be our second year at MPF, and we’re seriously stoked to be playing with Echo Fest alumni Beast in the Field, the always awesome Plastic Crimewave Syndicate, and Tapebenders, who I’m not familiar with, but I bet will be great, too. Check this interview with MPF’s founder Andrew Shelp about this year’s festival.
Following Milwaukee Psych Fest, we’re headed down to Chicago for a show at Wally World with a new Plastic Crimewave project and a great band that we played with at last year’s Cincy Psych Fest, Killer Moon. Then it’s down to Ft. Wayne to hook up with the freaks in Heaven’s Gateway Drugs at the Brass Rail on April 27th.
There might be a couple more after that, we’re working on a really cool one that hopefully we can let folks know about soon.
Here’s the tl;dr version:
March 1st – Dr. Disc, Hamilton, ON – 3pm w/ Dead Leaf Echo
March 1st – Smiling Buddha Bar, Toronto, ON – 8pm w/ Dead Leaf Echo
March 2nd – The Casbah, Hamilton, ON – 8pm w/ Dead Leaf Echo, Beliefs, & Gasoline Gathers Hands Gathers Friends
March 7th – New Dodge Lounge (part of Hamtramck Music Fest), Hmatramck, MI – 8pm w/ Oblisk, Palaces, Zombie Jesus and the Chocolate Sunshine Band, & Rogue Satellites
April 26th – The Cactus Club (Milwaukee Psych Fest), Milwaukee, MI – 8pm w/ Plastic Crimewave Syndicate, Beast in the Field, & Tapebenders
April 27th – Wally World, Chicago, IL w/ Killer Moon & a new Steve Kraków project

On Tuesday, July 9th we’ll be at the Magic Stick in Detroit, opening for legendary UK shoegaze/noise act The Telescopes, who are doing their first US tour with a full-band (they’ve been here as a 2-piece in the past). As an added bonus, they’ll be concentrating on songs from their first couple albums that haven’t been played live in years. Touring with them are San Francisco’s LSD and the Search for God and our old friends from Brooklyn, The Vandelles. Tickets are $15 in advance, and doors open at 8pm. We’ll be going on first, so get there early!
We’re about to start recording the our third album, but before that happens we’ve got one more, awesome, show. June 27th we’ll be at The Loving Touch in Ferndale opening for a shoegaze/punk (shoepunk? punkgaze? shpunkze?) double-shot of Bleeding Rainbow (Philly, PA) and Fat Creeps (Boston, MA). As soon as we heard that this bill was coming through town we asked to be a part of it, that’s how stoked we are about this show! Again, this is going to be our last show for a while so we hope to see all our friends there. Doors open at 8pm, $8 21+, $10 under 21. https://www.facebook.com/events/571020596262048/
Also, while we’re chatting, did you make it to the Rogue Satellites‘ release show for their great new album, Other Angels? If not, you missed their awesome cover of our song ‘Did You Hear the Lion Roar, Mr. Wig?’. They did a great job, even with some drunk asshole screwing up the beginning. Luckily for you, the tireless dude behind Front Row Detroit was there to film it. Check it out:
They’ve got a handful of East Coast dates this weekend with fellow Detroiters The Philter in Washington, DC; Brooklyn, NY; and Long Island, NY. If you have the chance, you really should check them out.
